Consumption Tab - Seasonal Averaging

The Seasonal Averaging section on the Consumption tab allows the organization to set the parameters and the defaults that the system should use to apply seasonal (sewer) averaging.

  1. The Apply table indicates when seasonal averaging should be applied to consumption, based on the Billing Date. If seasonal averaging is used, click the New button and enter a month and date value for both Apply From and Apply Through. This is typically summer or the dry season.
  2. The Calculate table defines the time period that should be used to calculate seasonal averaging. If seasonal averaging is used, click theNewbutton and enter a month and date value for bothCalculate From and Calculate Through. This is typically winter or the rainy season.
  3. Select the Averaging Type that should be used for seasonal averaging. The options are Average and Lowest. Average is the default value.
  4. Select the number of Consumption Decimals that should be used. The options are 0 through 6. Zero is the default value. This determines the precision that the average is carried to.
  5. Enter the Default Consumption that should be used for seasonal averaging. This value may contain up to 9 digits. If it is blank, no default is provided during processing. If the calculation breaks down because of lack of history, this value is used.
  6. The Minimum Consumption field provides an override capability for seasonal averaging. If desired, the organization can use this field to specify a consumption value that should be used instead of the seasonal averaging value. The system will use this value if the calculated average is less than this value. The acceptable range is 1 through 999,999,999. If this field is left blank, no override is used.
  7. Enter the Maximum Consumption that may be used for seasonal averaging. The system will use this value if the calculated average is more than this value. The acceptable range is 1 through 999,999,999. If this field is left blank, no maximum is defined. Zero is not a valid entry.
  8. Some of the extra "summer" consumption does end up in the sewer. If a multiplier should be applied to the seasonal average consumption values to compensate for this extra water, enter a Seasonal Average Multiplier value. Excluding zero, the acceptable range is 0.00001 through 999.99999. A value of 1.00000 would indicate that no multiplier is used.
  9. If the Use Actual Consumption if Lower than Average Consumption check box is selected, the system will use the actual consumption if that value is lower than the seasonal average consumption.
  10. If the Use Actual Consumption if Lower than Service Override check box is selected, the system will use the actual consumption if that value is lower than the override value on the account, if one is present.
  11. If the Exclude Zero Consumption check box is selected, the system will exclude zero consumption from its calculation of the seasonal average.
  12. The Prorate Seasonal Average check box is selected by default, indicating that seasonal averaging will be applied only for the number of days in the cycle that the customer was on the account. To apply seasonal averaging for the whole cycle, clear this check box.
